The image is quite obviously the lunar rover in front of a large
boulder. The photo was taken at around MET 167:38:00, for which we
have video coverage. The astronauts have walked down a hill from the
lunar rover about halfway to House Rock. They have stopped to take
samples. John Young takes samples while Charlie Duke photographs the
sample collection. One of his photos is a "locator" toward the rover.
In prior footage we can see the astronauts clearly descending a
slope toward the boulder, consistent with the apparent upward angle of
the Hasselblad photo.
The photo below is the enlargement from above placed side-by-side
with another photograph of a lunar rover in a similar orientation. A
few familiar rover features are indicated in both photos.
